Stadium Generale : Understanding the Qur'an-Hadith in the Virtual World
Wednesday, September 20, 2024. The Quranic Studies program, along with the Hadith Studies program, organized a stadium generale event for new students with the theme "digital connectivity and spirituality: understanding the Qur'an-Hadith in the Virtual World " This academic event featured two eminent professors in the field of the Qur'an and Hadith, Prof. Dr. KH. Erfan Soebhar, M.Ag from UIN Walisongo, Semarang, and Prof. Aisyah Karra, MA, Ph.D. from UIN Alaudin, Makassar.
In his opening remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Ushuluddin, Dr. H. Ahaad Atabik, LC, M.S.I, expressed gratitude for the presence of these two distinguished professors in the field of the Qur'an and Hadith, who are here to provide motivation and knowledge to new students in the IQT and IH programs, encouraging them to have a strong learning motivation and ambitious dreams of serving knowledge and becoming competent scholars in the field of the Qur'an and Hadith.
The stadium generale event was moderated by Moh. Amiruddin, MA, a Hadith lecturer who will pursue doctoral studies in Hadith at a renowned university in Germany in 2024. In the first session, Prof. Dr. KH. Erfan Soebhar, M.Ag explained how the development of digital technology has had a significant impact on the field of religious studies, especially the Qur'an and Hadith. In response to the massive content available on social media, Prof. Erfan advocated for having ethical guidelines in social media use, such as honesty, justice, politeness, exemplarity, and impartiality.
In the second session, Prof. Aisyah Karra, MA, Ph.D, introduced several digital applications that facilitate students in their learning, such as Hadith Soft, Lidwa.com, Maktabah Syamilah, and others. In the context of Hadith studies, Prof. Karra reminded students not to interpret Hadith in a literal sense. A literal (exclusive) understanding of Hadith forces someone to isolate themselves or claim to be the 'most authoritative.' On the other hand, a contextual (inclusive and accommodative) understanding of Hadith is a model of comprehension that can adapt to global developments by examining the asbab wurud (cultural and social conditions) when the Hadith was revealed.
The event concluded with a Q&A session and the presentation of souvenirs from the Dean of the Faculty of Ushuluddin to both speakers
